RAAF Base Williamtown Oral History and Interpretation Project

2009-2010

Client: Department of Defence (NSW), subconsultant for Woodhead (now GHD Woodhead)

I undertook a series of 17 interviews across two states to record the military, social, technical, community and natural history of the RAAF Base at Williamtown and the Salt Ash Air Weapons Range.  These formed the basis of interpretive signs that I developed, together with a graphic designer, for Newcastle airport and the RAAF Base Williamtown.  The oral history was also the basis for a booklet that I wrote on the history of the Base and Weapons Range, RAAF Base Williamtown: Faces of History.
